Abbot Care Home are looking for a Chef to join their team, working 45 hours per week.

Salary: Up to £12.00 depending on experience and qualifications

Job Purpose:

To prepare and provide both nutritionally and satisfying meals for all residents.

The Chef will lead and manage the catering team and work closely with other departments making sure that the highest service standards are met.

The Chef will ensure that the catering services maintain the Companies standards of food safety and hygiene and maintain a safe working environment.

Responsibilities:

Overall responsibility for the catering services within the home.

The Chef is responsible for all catering staff, leading, supervising and coaching team members and performance management.

Ensure that the rota is completed in a timely manner and the correct levels of staff are on shift at any time.

Have a comprehensive understanding of Health & Safety as well as Food Hygiene issues.

Ensure that all safety and food safety and hygiene paperwork is completed as specified in Food Safety Manual and filed.

Responsible for ensuring that the kitchen team deliver at least the minimum catering services specification as outlined in the Restaurant Services Manual.

Ensure the nutritional content of the meals provided cater for the dietary needs of all residents

Ensure that any requirements from internal and external audits are actioned within the agreed timescales.

Person Spec:

• Two years minimum experience in a similar role or a catering background with 12 months, minimum, hands on experience in managing a kitchen
• Possess intermediate food safety and hygiene certificate
• Supervisory and management experience
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Ability to work flexible hours
• NVQ Level 3
